A02 Post Production Notes


1. Rendering Settings (Rhino Renderer)

- Size 1600 x 1200 (approx.)
- Antialiasing: Medium - High
- DPI: 150 - 300

Additional Options:
- Transparent Background (or white)
- Render Curves
- Render Surface Edges and Isocurves

2. Saving Camera Views:
- View
- Set View
- Named Views
- Click Save
- Name Saved View

3. Changing Material Color:
- Select Object
- Open / View properties window
- Change menu from Object to Material
- Change Assign by to Basic
- Change variables:
- color
- transparency
- gloss
- reflectivity

4. Exporting lines to Illustrator:
- Select your current view
- Highlight objects
- Type Make2D command
- Select either Current View or 4 View (depending on what your trying to export)
- New lines will be pasted onto a new layer named "Make2D visible lines"
- Right click on Make2D visible lines layer and Select Objects
- With lines selected, go to File > Export Selected
- Name file and select Illustrator file for Save as Type
- For AI Export Options, leave on Snapshot of current view

5. Setting up Lights
- Select Render
- Create Point Light
- Place light in model, place above model. Place light as if it is "sunlight"
- Select Render > Render Properties
- Under Ambient Light change Color to: Dark Gray
- Change Bottom Color to: Light Gray

6. Perspective views:

For all axons make sure to:
- Right lick on Perspective label in Perspective Viewport and go to Viewport properties
- Change Projection to Parallel

For all other perspective views:
- Right click on Perspective label in Perspective Viewport and go to Viewport properties
- Change Projection to Perspective
- Can change Lens Length lower to make more dramatic angles in renderings.
